- The bending moment M is the value at the column base and MB the value at the column top. It varies linearly along the column, so M + MB = Hh.
- The load position ratio ε is the distance from the left end divided by the span, so it runs from 0 to 1.
- M_A and M_D are the bending moments at the left and right column bases.
