Maximum starting frequency

Diagram: Motors Maximum starting frequency

Log in to calculate

Input

Maximum starting frequency at no load
fs0f_{s0}
Rotor moment of inertia
JRJ_R
Load moment of inertia
JLJ_L

Result

Inertia ratio
JLJR\displaystyle \frac{J_L}{J_R}
Maximum starting frequency
fsf_s
Reduction rate
fsfs0\displaystyle \frac{f_s}{f_{s0}}

Notes

  • The self-starting frequency is the highest pulse rate at which the motor can start and stop from rest without ramping. Starting straight in above it makes the motor lose steps, so ramping becomes necessary.
  • The maximum self-starting frequency with no load, fs0f_{s0}, cannot be calculated. Read it off the self-starting region (pull-in torque curve) in the motor's catalogue and enter it.
  • Where a gearbox is used, enter JLJ_L referred to the motor shaft.
