Updraft

Parallel key, one round end, counterbored — From tangential force

Use this when the force on the key is known. From the width, the key length, the number of counterbores, the counterbore diameter, and the shear force it finds the area in shear and the shear stress. The shaft diameter and the torque are not needed. A parallel key with one round end loses effective length at the rounded end.
