Parallel key, both ends round, tapped and counterbored — From tangential force
Use this when the force on the key is known. From the width, the key length, the tapped-hole diameter, the number of counterbores, the counterbore diameter, and the shear force it finds the area in shear and the shear stress. The shaft diameter and the torque are not needed. A parallel key with both ends round loses effective length at each rounded end.
